Antivirus configured in the VM is restricting the execution of backup extension

The Solution

Exclude the following directories from antivirus configuration:

C:\Packages\Plugins\Microsoft.Azure.RecoveryServices.VMSnapshot
C:\WindowsAzure\Logs\Plugins\Microsoft.Azure.RecoveryServices.VMSnapshot
